Two firefighters sustained minor injuries while combating a two-alarm blaze in Astoria, Queens. The fire erupted yesterday evening just before the 7 p.m. mark at a building on 18-32 Steinway Street. Both individuals were transported to Elmhurst Hospital for treatment following the incident, as reported by ABC7NY. The Fire Department of New York (FDNY) was able to get the situation under control at around 8:20 p.m.
According to PIX11, an extensive emergency response ensued with 25 units along with EMS personnel at the scene. The FDNY quickly addressed the fire on the roof of the two-story building, making swift work to prevent further escalation.
