Two individuals sustained injuries after a single-engine plane collided with a parked aircraft during practice take-offs yesterday at Doylestown Airport in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, officials said. The incident occurred shortly before 12:30 p.m. on the airstrip located along the 3800 block of Old Easton Road, NBC Philadelphia reports.
According to the Buckingham Township police, who first arrived at the scene, the plane veered off the runway during its ascent and subsequently crashed into another small, unoccupied plane. Even being hindered by their injuries, all the occupants managed to exit the first plane, police told CBS News Philadelphia.
Authorities transported two people from the accident to local hospitals to be evaluated for injuries. While details of their conditions have not been disclosed, the total number of people aboard the plane has been confirmed to be three by Bucks County spokesperson James O'Malley, as per an interview with FOX43.
Meanwhile, waiting for the arrival of investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration, Buckingham Township officials remained at the scene. SkyForce10 footage revealed the aftermath of the crash, showing the damaged aircrafts entangled on the landing strip. "First responders found all occupants out of the plane when they arrived," police said in a statement obtained by NBC Philadelphia.
