A pedestrian was critically injured following a collision with a vehicle in the south Las Vegas valley on Wednesday night. According to information provided by FOX5 Vegas, a Chevrolet Cruze hit the pedestrian south of Valley View Boulevard, near Blue Diamond Road, at around 6:40 p.m. Las Vegas Metro police stated that the pedestrian was crossing outside a marked crosswalk at the time of the incident.
The driver of the Chevrolet reportedly stayed on scene and impairment is not currently considered a factor, as police continue to look into the crash details. Shortly after the incident, emergency responders transported the pedestrian to a local hospital, where they remain in critical condition. This marks the second pedestrian-involved crash reported in the area on the same day. Unfortunately, the pedestrian involved in an earlier incident did not survive their injuries, as per 8 News Now.
Meanwhile, 8 News NOW has provided an update on the traffic impact, citing RTC Southern Nevada, which reported the closure of Valley View Boulevard between Blue Diamond Road and Windmill Lane following the crash. The precise circumstances around why the pedestrian was outside the crosswalk are yet to be disclosed by authorities. The later crash occurred less than an hour before yet another pedestrian was struck and fatally injured on Nellis Boulevard near Twain Avenue, inflicting upon the day a grim repetition of tragedies on the road.
