In a similar event that same evening, a tanker transporting argon overturned in Tacoma leading to a substantial road closure. The driver of the tanker truck, accused of DUI, was apprehended following the incident, which caused transportation delays until the site was cleared by the Washington State Department of Transportation. The cleanup and subsequent normalizing of traffic conditions were announced later that night, as reported by the Seattle Times.
Trooper John Dattilo, also of the Washington State Patrol, elaborated that due to the crash on the SR 16 ramp, the road closure extended from the intersection of Sprague and 19th to SR 16.
