After a period of closure due to an incident earlier today, traffic has resumed on US-290 eastbound at the I-10 direct connector, the lanes reopened following a fatal motorcycle crash. The crash, which occurred around 2:44 a.m., prompted a response from Houston police and fire departments. Upon arrival, they found an unresponsive motorcycle rider, who was pronounced dead at the scene. KHOU 11's traffic expert Jennifer Reyna noted that the shutdown caused inbound traffic to be diverted onto I-10, leading to significant delays throughout the morning. Houston TranStar reported that the incident, which occurred just before 3 a.m. and involved two vehicles, resulted in eastbound congestion. As a result, drivers were rerouted through alternate routes, including the frontage road to Hempstead Road or Old Katy Road, as suggested by Reyna, as per report by KHOU.
