Yesterday afternoon, Vacaville was the scene of a police intervention following a call from an alert community member. As reported by the Vacaville Police Department's social media post, suspicious activity around a parked car at a local park and ride drew law enforcement's attention just after 3pm. Two individuals were found near the car that had a jack positioned oddly underneath it.
During the investigation, officers uncovered a sizable quantity of methamphetamine along with an array of personal identity information, including ID and bank cards, as well as a fraudulent check, as mentioned in the Police Department's post. Vanessa Burton, 36, of Vacaville, and an unnamed male companion were taken into custody. The pair were booked into the Solano County Jail, facing multiple charges. Their charges include violations of felony probation and possession of methamphetamine alongside narcotic paraphernalia.
The police are now digging deeper into the situation to pinpoint any potential victims of theft or burglary. The scope of the identity information found suggests that the reach of the crime may extend beyond Vacaville. The intent is to determine if any of the individuals are connected to the stolen identity documents, making sure to mitigate the fallout from this significant breach.
Citizens are being commended for their vigilance, as highlighted by the Police Department statement, “We are thankful to our community members who keep an eye out for one another.”
