The Vancouver Police Department Major Crime Unit is persisting in its investigation following a shooting incident at Vancouver Mall, as recounted in a press statement released by the City of Vancouver. The event, which left one man dead and two others injured, occurred on Thursday amidst the backdrop of a busy shopping center.
According to the City of Vancouver's press release, the victims, both adult males aged 30 and 40, were caught in the line of fire and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. After receiving treatment, the hospital released the two individuals. The identity of the deceased man, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene, is still under verification by the authorities.
The ongoing investigation points to a deliberate attack, with the suspect having worn a Halloween mask during the incident. Detectives are currently working to pin down the identity of the masked individual, who remains at large. The police believe that the injured parties were unintended victims, affected by their unfortunate proximity to the targeted attack.
For those who left behind their belongings in the chaos, Vancouver Mall security is coordinating the return of personal property. The police encourage anyone with information that could aid the investigation who has not yet come forward to contact the Vancouver Police Tip Line at (360) 487-7399.
