Hawai’i Island authorities are seeking the public’s help to track down two individuals linked to a recent theft in Waikoloa. The culprits, a man and a woman, were caught by the watchful eye of surveillance cameras during a heist at a local business establishment. The incident unfolded on a lazy Sunday afternoon, September 29, 2024, at about 6:16 p.m., ensconced within the commercial havens of the Waikoloa Highlands shopping center.
The Hawaiian sun had witnessed the suspects, accompanied by 2 children, as they embarked on their illicit grocery run. In the dance of shadows, the woman was described as having a tan complexion, medium-length dark brown hair, clothed in a white top, light blue jean shorts, and sandals. Meanwhile, her counterpart, a tan-complexioned male with short dark hair and a beard, was adorned in a long-sleeve black shirt, dark-colored board shorts, and slippers. According to a statement by the police, approximately $165.00 in groceries vanished with them.
The police are casting a wide net, urging anyone with information or the ability to recognize the individuals from the photos to come forward. Officer Jessica Cook of the South Kohala District is the point of contact and can be reached via the police department's non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311 or by email at [email protected]. In their effort to uncover the suspects' identities, the police are relying on the eyes and ears of the community.
