Wake Forest is gearing up for its annual Lighting of Wake Forest event, and you're invited to join the festivities. According to an announcement from Wake Forest's official website, the celebration is set to take place next Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m. The holiday affair, presented by Wake Forest Downtown, Inc. (WFD), promises a blend of seasonal cheer and community spirit at Centennial Plaza and the surrounding area.
The highlight of the evening is the lighting of the 30-foot-tall Christmas tree by Mayor Vivian Jones around 6:20 p.m., as informed by the town's website. Visitors can expect a host of activities including musical performances from local choral groups and the School of Rock Wake Forest staged along South Brooks Street. Roving LED performers will add a sparkle to East Owen Avenue, which will also host an array of food trucks such as Not Just a Fry Guy, and Little Halos along with other enticing options.
Children can look forward to Santa Claus's arrival, and there will be activities like writing letters to Santa courtesy of the Wake Forest Woman’s Club. The sweet tooth in everyone will be satisfied with treats from Polka Dot Treat Shop, a chocolate sale by Make Room for Dessert LLC, and free samples from Nothing Bundt Cakes of Wake Forest—while supplies last. Shoppers can also get into the holiday spirit with a Christmas ornament sale by the Wake Forest Historical Museum and merchandise from The Makery.
