
Residents in the Washington D.C. area are looking at a wet Thanksgiving Day with rainfall expected mainly before 10 a.m., as reported by the National Weather Service. The day's high will be around a middling 55°F, with the south wind shifting west and gusts potentially reaching up to 29 mph. Despite the dreary start, skies are set to clear tonight, leading to a chilly low near 34°F and the winds calming down.
The NWS detailed forecast notes that after Thanksgiving, the weather seems to take a turn for the better. Friday is expected to be sunny with a high near 49°F and light winds in the morning, growing more robust in the afternoon, capable of gusting as high as 18 mph. The evening will usher in a mostly clear sky and a low around a crisp 27°F.
The weather will be mostly sunny from Saturday to Monday, with temperatures rising from 40°F on Saturday to 42°F by Tuesday. However, overnight lows will dip to the mid-20s.
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the Chesapeake Bay, Tidal Potomac River, and parts of Maryland, northern Virginia, and the District of Columbia. "Occasional wind gusts to around gale-force are possible late this afternoon into this evening across the waters," according to the NWS outlook. However, "no hazardous weather is expected beyond today and no spotter activation is anticipated at this time."
