In a significant development for West Michigan's entertainment scene, the West Michigan Whitecaps have acquired the nearby AJ's Family Fun Center. The acquisition was announced today, with plans to rebrand the venue as Game Time Fun Park. According to WOOD TV8, this rebranding aims to enhance the fan experience on gameday and is set to be completed in time for the 2025 spring season.
Joe Chamberlin, CEO of the West Michigan Whitecaps, expressed his enthusiasm about the merger. "We couldn’t be more excited about adding Game Time Fun Park to the Whitecaps family," he said, noting the importance of being able to to slowly introduce the Whitecaps' brand to a broader audience, as reported by 9&10 News.
The popular attractions at AJ's Family Fun Center, including an 18-hole mini golf course, batting cages, an arcade, and go-kart racing, are set to be enhanced, though details about the planned renovations have not yet been revealed. A statement released by Chamberlin and cited by WZZM 13 detailed the Whitecaps’ commitment "to elevate the experience and level of fun."
AJ's Family Fun Center, home to one of Michigan's largest outdoor go-kart tracks and well-known outdoor batting cages, will remain a family-friendly destination, accessible to visitors on both game and non-game days. "It's one of the only remaining 18-hole mini golf courses around. And we're going to apply the Whitecaps brand and the Whitecaps experience to all those items," Chamberlin explained in a statement obtained by WZZM 13. Additional details about the forthcoming changes are anticipated to be shared in the coming months.
The Whitecaps' home opener, a marker for the new era of combined attractions, is scheduled for April 4 at LMCU Ballpark, as found on 9&10 News. This match-up against the Dayton Dragons will now offer more than just baseball, as the newly acquired Game Time Fun Park promises to provide an amplified entertainment experience.
