A Wheelersburg man was apprehended on Wednesday following reports of a residential burglary in Scioto County. According to a release from the Scioto County Sheriff, David Thoroughman, the incident occurred around 3:17 pm when a resident alerted authorities to an active burglary, with her son attempting to halt the suspect's actions.

Following the call, law enforcement, including deputies and detectives, quickly arrived on the scene and initiated an investigation. Sheriff Thoroughman credited Detective Sgt. Jodi Conkel, Detective John Cart, and Deputies Craig Ashley and Alicia Underwood swiftly located and detained the suspect. The alleged perpetrator was identified as 33-year-old Jazmine Allen of Wheelersburg.

The stolen goods were recovered near an apartment complex and believed to have been hastily concealed by Allen post-burglary. In a statement obtained by the Scioto County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Thoroughman commended the responsive actions of his deputies and detectives in effecting this quick arrest.

Allen now faces charges for Burglary, a felony of the second degree, and Theft, a misdemeanor of the first degree. The bond is set at $76,000.00, and Allen is to appear in the Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday, December 2, as further reported by the Scioto County Sheriff's Office. The arrest also unraveled links to other potential crimes in the area, as Allen is suspected of breaking into several vehicles and attempting to enter others along Kinker Drive and Dogwood Ridge unlawfully.

Residents' concerns regarding break-ins have yet to subside entirely, suggesting that there may be more undetected threads to this story. Sheriff Thoroughman encouraged anyone with potential information or who may have been a victim to contact Detective Sergeant Jodi Conkel at 740-351-1091. While Allen awaits court proceedings, the investigation continues to move forward, with the possibility of additional charges being put forth with the Scioto County Grand Jury on a subsequent date.
