A teacher's aide at a White Oak elementary school has been charged with offenses relating to the alleged assault of a 5-year-old boy with special needs. Investigations were initiated into a ChildLine report yesterday, with the scene of the allegations being Francis McClure Elementary School, according to WPXI.
Accused 53-year-old Amy Kevicki is said to have been captured on video grabbing the child by the back of the neck and shoving him to the ground. Following the incident, she allegedly walked away without attending to the boy. As per the Allegheny County Police Department, the charges of misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child and summary harassment have been brought against Kevicki after consultation with the District Attorney's Office.
Officials say the child wasn’t physically hurt, but the emotional and psychological effects could be significant, especially for a young child with special needs. According to WTAE, after the incident, the school and district officials have not stated the teacher's aide or any actions taken in response to the charges.
