
In an incident that gripped the suburban neighborhood of White Settlement, local police found themselves engaged in a potentially volatile situation involving a suspicious man, a van, and explosive devices. The White Settlement Police Department described the occurrence on its Facebook page. They reported that officers responded to a call early in the morning regarding a suspicious vehicle located on the 9200 block of Jason Drive. Upon arrival, they encountered an adult male inside a white passenger van.
The situation escalated when officers saw a firearm in the man's lap. Staying calm, they communicated with him and identified a mental health crisis. They safely apprehended him when he wasn't holding the gun. Inside the van, they found two explosive devices, which were quickly secured and removed.
Given the gravity of the discovery, the White Settlement Police Department called upon federal expertise. The Federal Bureau of Investigation Joint Terrorism Task Force and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives responded and are assisting with the investigation, the social media update informed the public.
