Residents of Wilkinsburg are on high alert following reports of a suspicious man accused of breaking into homes in the area. The Wilkinsburg Police Department has issued a warning after a masked man entered a home on the 800 block of South Trenton Avenue and stood over a sleeping woman, sparking fear in the community.
Early Sunday morning, a homeowner woke to find an intruder looming over her. She kicked and screamed, forcing him to flee. In a statement detailed by WPXI, police described the suspect as being heavier set, dressed in all black with a full face mask and gloves.
Wilkinsburg Police have since urged the community to maintain vigilance. Further reports emerged Tuesday morning of the same individual attempting to enter another home in close proximity to the initial report. However, this time, the door being tried was noted to be open, raising additional concerns about area security and the brazenness of the would-be intruder. According to a WTAE article, these events have prompted an appeal for assistance from the public in spotting any suspicious activities that could help prevent future incidents.
