A tragic incident occurred late Monday in Ashburn on the Southwest Side, where a 47-year-old woman lost her life after being struck by an SUV. The fatal collision happened around 11:25 p.m. on the 3800 block of West Columbus Avenue, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times. According to the Chicago police, the woman ran into the street just when a white SUV, heading west, hit her.
The driver of the SUV, a 48-year-old man, stayed at the scene after the accident, where the citation was pending. Running into the street, the woman sustained trauma to her body and was swiftly transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where, despite the efforts of medical professionals, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead, ABC7 Chicago reports.
The identity of the woman had not been released by officials as the news broke.
