
A 49-year-old woman is in critical condition after being struck by an SUV in southwest Las Vegas on Sunday morning. The incident occurred on West Post Road, west of South Fort Apache Road, around 11:15 a.m. Witnesses informed the Metropolitan Police Department that the pedestrian was found "outside of a marked or implied crosswalk" after being hit, as reported by The Las Vegas Review-Journal.
According to the The Las Vegas Review-Journal, a Toyota 4-Runner traveling west made a left turn from South Fort Apache Road before entering the path of the pedestrian, resulting in the collision. At the scene, the distraught driver remained and showed no signs of impairment. The woman subsequently was hospitalized at the University Medical Center, where police stated her condition was still critical.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department also provided details on the situation, as detailed by News 3 LV, indicating that the collision took place at approximately 11:18 a.m. with the vehicle turning west, striking the pedestrian who was outside the crosswalk. The driver of the vehicle, having remained at the scene, was not suspected of impairment.
In the aftermath of the accident, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada quickly responded, reporting that all lanes were blocked on Fort Apache Road near West Sunset Road, as per News 3 LV. Motorists have been advised to avoid the area and consider alternative routes, avoiding any further congestion created by the investigation scene.
