Las Vegas is heading into a punishing Saturday, with sunny skies, a high near 113 degrees and an overnight low that barely falls to around 91. The heat will stay dangerous through the weekend, leaving little room for relief after sunset.
Early Saturday morning was clear, with temperatures already near 88 degrees at a nearby observing station. The National Weather Service expects temperatures to climb past 100 degrees by late morning, with light southeast winds becoming more noticeable through the afternoon.
Extreme Heat Warning Runs Through Sunday
An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect across the Las Vegas area through 8 p.m. Sunday. Highs are expected to reach about 113 degrees both Saturday and Sunday, while nighttime temperatures remain unusually high in the low 90s.
Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioning when possible and move strenuous outdoor activity to early morning or evening. Never leave children, older adults or pets in a parked vehicle, where temperatures can become life-threatening within minutes.
Heat Eases Next Week As Storm Chances Grow
Monday will still be dangerously hot at about 111 degrees, followed by highs near 107 Tuesday and 103 Wednesday. The forecast then turns more unsettled, with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday and a better chance Thursday and Friday as temperatures fall into the upper 90s.
Storms could bring brief heavy rain and sudden gusty winds, especially near higher terrain, even as much of the valley stays dry. Anyone with outdoor plans should check updated forecasts, carry water and be ready to cut activities short if thunder or strong winds move in.
