A tragic event unfolded on the North Side of San Antonio, where a woman was found dead and a man critically injured in an apparent attempted murder-suicide. The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) arrived at the Barcelona Condominiums on the 60 block of Brees Boulevard, responding to a call of a shooting yesterday. According to KSAT, officers found a man and a woman, both in their 50s, in an apartment suffering from gunshot wounds.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the neck, his condition was described as life-threatening. Believed to be in a relationship according to SAPD, it remains unclear what initiated the confrontation leading to the fateful incident. The man, found with life-threatening injuries, is now fighting for his life in a local hospital.
Officers recovered a firearm at the apartment, and initially, it was too early to confirm if the shooting was an attempted murder-suicide. However, further clarifying the circumstances, KENS 5 later reported that SAPD confirmed the now-deceased woman as the suspect in what is believed to be an attempted murder-suicide. A weapon was found near the suspect inside the apartment, with no additional suspects being sought by the authorities.
A family member, upon checking in on one of the occupants, discovered the scene. While the apartment was believed to be home to one of the individuals, the other was apparently visiting at the time of the incident. Authorities are not currently seeking any additional suspects and the investigation is ongoing. The man's condition, described as critical, continues to hang in the balance, with charges to be considered upon his recovery, as per statements by SAPD officials.
