
A fatal collision on Shoreline Drive and 7th Street in Long Beach has claimed the life of a woman, authorities said. The incident took place on the evening of Nov. 26, when a Long Beach Transit bus struck a female pedestrian, as reported by the Long Beach Police Department.
Long Beach Police officers responded to the scene around 6:54 p.m., following reports of an injury traffic collision. The Long Beach Fire Department was providing aid to the injured woman upon their arrival. Despite efforts to save her, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a press release from the Long Beach Police Department.
The initial findings indicate the pedestrian was in the roadway outside of a crosswalk when the bus, moving northbound on Shoreline Drive, struck her. The bus driver has reported the collision and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, as detailed by the Long Beach Police Department. Long Beach Transit is also said to be assisting with the probe. Currently, authorities do not believe that speed, distracted driving, or impaired driving were involved in the accident.
The identity of the deceased woman is yet to be released, pending a determination by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner and notification of next of kin.
