A woman's routine ride home turned abruptly into a harrowing ordeal when she was robbed at gunpoint by a person she knew. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's District 1 is investigating the incident, which took place last Wednesday in the area of Virginia & Eichelberger.
The 24-year-old victim was getting a lift from a 27-year-old man at around 2:30 p.m, when he suddenly passed her home destination. This unexpected detour caused her to become anxious and to quickly place her firearm under her arm for protection. Moments later, the situation escalated. According to a statement obtained by the SLMPD, "the suspect pulled the car over at Virginia & Eichelberger, grabbed her firearm and then pointed it at her and demanded she get out." The woman followed his command and was left unharmed as the suspect drove away with her belongings, including the firearm.
Despite the threatening circumstances, no physical injuries were reported by the victim. The authorities have not yet disclosed if the suspect has been apprehended or if the victim's property has been recovered.
The SLMPD's investigation into the robbery is actively ongoing. They have yet to release further details of the suspect or the motive behind the crime.
