
A young father was tragically killed during a shooting incident in southwest Houston while his 5-month-old daughter was present in the vehicle. The 23-year-old, who worked as a security guard, was en route to a photo shoot with his daughter at the time of the attack, which left his car riddled with bullet holes. Police responded to the scene at the Wells Fargo bank parking lot at 10005 Beechnut Street near Beltway 8 where the tragedy unfolded, according to reports from KPRC 2 and ABC13.
The victim was accompanied by two additional passengers, a female and a male roommate, when the shooting occurred the woman and the man were also inside the car during the shooting, notably the roommate who sustained injuries needing hospitalization; the baby, however, miraculously remained unharmed throughout the harrowing experience. Officers at the scene were seen cradling the infant in the aftermath of the violence. The Houston Police Department suspects the shooting occurred a few blocks west of the location where the victim's vehicle was discovered.
Further details provided by ABC13 indicate that the woman who was in the car during the shooting shielded the baby as shots were fired. After the incident, she was taken in for questioning by the police and subsequently returned to the scene. The family of the deceased shared with ABC13 that he was a dedicated father providing for his child.
