A violent altercation took place late last night in the Skinker-Debaliviere neighborhood, where a 19-year-old individual sustained injuries during a robbery. The incident occurred at approximately 10:40 p.m. near Des Peres Avenue and Westminister Place.
According to an official statement by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the victim had just departed from their significant other's residence and was heading north on Des Peres Avenue when an unknown assailant, armed with what appeared to be a pocketknife, confronted them. The suspect allegedly demanded the victim's wallet and, upon a muffled exchange, proceeded to stab the victim before seizing their backpack. The report, detailed on the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department website, noted, "The 19-year-old said the man stabbed him and then snatched his backpack."
It was reported that the assailant searched through the victim's belongings before discarding the backpack in a nearby grassy area. The 19-year-old was left with a small puncture wound. The victim, however, declined medical attention after the assault. SLMPD have since located and returned the backpack to the owner. The nature of the contents within the backpack have not been disclosed by the authorities.
The case remains open and under investigation by District 5. No further details regarding the suspect's description or potential motives were immediately available.
