A 19-year-old woman is in critical condition after being hit by a car in east Las Vegas. The incident occurred on Flamingo Road near Tamarus Street shortly after midnight on Wednesday. Police say she was walking across the road, outside of a crosswalk, when she was struck by a 2008 Toyota Camry, according to News3LV.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, was quickly taken to Sunrise Hospital and is receiving treatment for critical injuries. The 25-year-old driver of the Camry, who has also not been identified, remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. Authorities reported that the driver showed "no signs of impairment," as stated by 8 News Now.
8 News Now reports that the incident happened just before 12:30 a.m. on Thursday. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are investigating the crash, and no charges have been filed yet. The teenager is in critical condition. The driver, who was not impaired, stopped right after the collision. Police remind everyone to be careful on the roads.
