The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office has identified the victim of a shooting in north Tulsa as 30-year-old Kaylyn Fuentes. Following a call to 911 by a woman claiming her boyfriend had been shot, deputies responded on Saturday to a property near Utica and 66th Street North. Upon their arrival around 4pm, they located Fuentes' body with a fatal gunshot wound inside a barn.
Devin L. Grimes, 24, was arrested shortly afterwards and has since been booked into the Tulsa County Jail on multiple charges. These charges include murder, robbery with a firearm after a former felony conviction, obstruction, and concealing stolen property. KTUL reports that Grimes was found hiding in brush a couple hundred yards from the scene of the crime.
The area around N. 66th Street and Victor Avenue was temporarily closed as the investigation unfolded. According to KJRH, TCSO deputies have been meticulously working through the details of the case since the shooting occurred to piece together the events that led to this tragic incident.
While the motive behind the shooting remains to be fully understood, News On 6 detailed that Grimes is facing serious allegations including possession of a firearm, an indication of the compounded legal issues ahead for the accused.
