In Roy, an animal control operation led to the rescue of 54 animals after a complaint about illegal breeding and animal cruelty. According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Blotter, the seizure, which took place in late November, included 35 dogs, 18 cats, and a large horse. The suspect had prior offenses involving Animal Control officers.
The operation was described as intensive, requiring hours of planning. Animal Control worked with local veterinarians and the Humane Society, who provided crucial support. "After an extensive investigation, Animal Control determined a warrant needed to be submitted," the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Blotter reported. The animals were taken to a local vet for treatment and care. Once healthy, the animals will be transferred to the Humane Society for further care.
The suspect has been named in the case and is facing charges for illegal breeding and animal cruelty. The charges will be forwarded to a prosecutor for review.
