Earlier this morning in Westwood, Cincinnati, fire crews hustled to contain a significant blaze that struck a townhouse complex on Anaconda Drive. Dispatched just after 5 a.m., the firefighters were challenged by the frigid weather while attempting to extinguish the remaining hotspots of the fire entirely. WLWT reported that one resident was at home during the fire outbreak and evacuated safely. At the same time, three additional families were led out of connecting townhomes to avoid smoke damage.
Adding to the response, 65 firefighters were called to the multi-family home as the situation escalated to a second alarm, necessitating more resources. Officials confirmed the blaze required an outside attack for safety reasons, according to WCPO.
Fortunately, all the building's occupants were able to exit without harm before the authorities' arrival. The fire's origin remains unknown as investigations continue, and an assessment of the damages, including potential water and fire damage to other units, is still pending.
