Officials have apprehended and charged 64-year-old Marcus Tucker in connection with the death of Leon Ratcliff, 69, stemming from an incident that erupted into gunfire last Friday on Melbourne Street. According to the City of Houston's news release, the altercation that fatally ended at approximately 12:55 a.m. has now led to a murder charge, laid upon Tucker in the 209th State District Court.

As Houston Police Department Homicide Division Detectives A. Ledford and K. Hale have determined, the conflict, which gradually escalated into a deadly confrontation, took place in the middle of the street. Responding officers discovered Ratcliff unresponsive with a gunshot wound and provided aid until paramedics took him to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital where he was declared deceased. Rarely does an argument in the dead of night so rapidly transmute into a matter of life and death.

The investigation quickly focused on Tucker as the main suspect. Within 24 hours, detectives and the Harris County District Attorney's Office coordinated to charge him with murder, and he was arrested on Saturday without incident. He is now in the Harris County Jail, awaiting further legal proceedings, as shown in a booking photo from the news release.
