
An 82-year-old woman was rescued from the icy waters of Spring Lake after falling off a dock in West Michigan. Neighbors and first responders quickly came together to assist her. The Fruitport Township Police Department, along with fire department personnel, were called to the scene on South Third Avenue around 12:25 p.m. last Saturday following reports of the accident.
Upon arrival, officers found that bystanders had already stepped in to help, using a ladder to assist the elderly woman in getting out of the freezing water. She was quickly brought to safety onshore, according to Fruitport Township Police Department's social media post.
Following the rescue, the woman was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for a precautionary evaluation. Both the police and fire departments, alongside the neighbors whose quick thinking aided in averting a potential tragedy, received appreciation from the local authorities. "We greatly appreciate everyone who assisted in the incident," stated the Fruitport Township Police Department.
