An 88-year-old woman lost her life in a Cedar Park traffic incident on Monday evening, according to police reports. Cedar Park Police responded to a call just before the close of the day's light at around 6:30 p.m., addressing a collision at Royal Lane, near Lonestar Drive. FOX 7 Austin stated that the victim was later identified as Elisabeth Barker, who, at the time of the incident, was walking in an area poorly lit.
The circumstances surrounding the crash were outlined by the Cedar Park Police Department (CPPD). The Highway Enforcement Unit of the CPPD surmised that a pickup truck was traveling southward on Royal Lane, in a dark, unlit portion of the road. It was in these dim confines that Barker, clad in dark clothing, became imperceptible until, tragically, it was too late, this according to KVUE.
The aftermath of the crash saw the driver of the pickup truck come to an immediate stop after contact was made, highlighting the unforeseen nature of the predicament. The driver, whose details have not been disclosed, remained at the scene following the unfortunate event.
As investigations are ongoing, the CPPD's Highway Enforcement Unit is taking the lead in piecing together the details of the accident. The investigative unit has not yet released additional information regarding any charges or citations related to the accident. Commuters and residents are encouraged to stay up to date with traffic conditions, as ongoing investigations may affect travel routes in the area.
