
An early morning altercation in Akron turned deadly when a 36-year-old man was fatally shot. The Akron Police Department reported that officers arrived on the scene at approximately 3:15 a.m. yesterday in the 500 block of Carpenter Street, where they discovered the man with multiple gunshot wounds, according to News 5 Cleveland. The individual, whose name has not yet been widely released, was pronounced dead shortly after the officers' arrival.
The police believe the victim was involved in a disagreement inside an apartment that involved two other individuals. This disagreement later spilled outside, escalating into a physical confrontation. "At some point, the older man pulled out a gun and shot the 36-year-old," said the Akron Police in a statement obtained by News 5 Cleveland. A 49-year-old man was subsequently detained at the scene and taken to the police station for questioning. He was later released uncharged while the investigation continues.
The Akron Police Department has not confirmed to have detained the shooter in this incident specifically.
