Akron police are delving into the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident that resulted in a 7-year-old boy being struck by a bullet discharged from the apartment above him. The shooting took place in the early hours of yesterday morning at around 2:45 a.m. on the 400 block of Wildwood Avenue, as per WKYC.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the child with an apparent gunshot wound. The boy was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital, where he is reported to be in serious but stable condition. While the identity of the victim has been withheld due to the ongoing investigation, FOX8 reports that the preliminary findings suggest that the bullet was fired from within an upstairs apartment and came through the floor to hit the victim below. Meanwhile, the police's search of the upstairs apartment turned up empty, with no individuals present, but a bullet hole in the floor was found, among other evidence.

As captured in the audio, she pleads for emergency assistance, reinforcing to her wounded son that help is on the way while the young boy cries in the background.
