An eight-year-old boy from Akron passed away following an accidental shooting that occurred at his home on Evergreen Avenue. The tragic incident, which took place yesterday at around 4:15 p.m., has triggered a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the boy's death. Cleveland19 first reported that the child sustained a gunshot wound to the torso before being rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Upon the officers' arrival, they discovered the child with a grave injury. According to a statement obtained by News 5 Cleveland, the mother of the child was present during the time of the shooting. It has also been reported that the boy was a student at Crouse Elementary School. The handgun, which was unsecured at the family residence, was retrieved by authorities, but no charges have been filed as of yet.
