As the anniversary nears, Anaheim detectives are calling for witnesses to step forward in a January shooting that left 49-year-old Marcy Aguilar dead. The incident unfolded in the early hours of January 24, when Anaheim police officers responded to reports of gunfire in the neighborhood of E. Wakefield Avenue, as conveyed by CBS Los Angeles.
Aguilar was found on an apartment porch, having suffered a deadly gunshot wound. Even after immediate medical attention and transportation to a hospital, unfortunately, he did not survive. Despite the effort of the Anaheim Police Department (APD) to piece together the chain of events that led to the tragedy, the motive, and the perpetrator remain unknown, "Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, specific details cannot be released at this time," APD indicated in a statement shared by Anaheim's official website.
With the investigation still active nearly a year later, authorities are convinced that there are individuals with knowledge crucial to achieving justice for Aguilar. Acknowledging that additional witnesses are out there, APD is urging anyone with information to come forward. APD has opened multiple channels for witnesses to reach out, including direct contact at (714) 321-3669. To entice potential informants, individuals wishing to retain anonymity have the option to submit tips through the same number.
