The City of Arlington has announced that waste collection services will be adjusted due to the Christmas holiday, details of which can be found on their official social media channels. This change means residential and commercial garbage and recycling collection will not occur on Wednesday, Dec. 25, as confirmed on the City of Arlington's Facebook page. Instead, the disruption in the daily routine due to the holiday celebration has resulted in a one-day postponement for all collections scheduled on Dec. 25, 26, and 27.
In terms of the rescheduling specifics, as the original post outlines, "Residents whose regularly scheduled garbage and recycling collection day falls on Dec. 25, 26 or 27 will have their curbside collection shift by one day because of the holiday." This means that those who would typically roll their bins out on Wednesday are asked to do so on Thursday, Dec. 26, Thursday's usual pick-up will now happen on Friday, Dec. 27, and residences usually serviced on Friday will see trucks in front of their homes on Saturday, Dec. 28, as per the City of Arlington.
These shifts are not unique to the City of Arlington as many municipalities across the nation implement similar measures during major holidays to accommodate the closure of waste management facilities and to allow employees to spend time with their families. It's a sensible rearrangement of services that ensures the cleanliness and health of communities while respecting the rhythm of holiday pauses.
