On Thanksgiving, a carjacking incident in Vallejo ended with the arrest of an armed suspect following an extensive manhunt by various law enforcement agencies. The Vallejo Police Department reported that the male victim was carjacked at gunpoint while inside his 2001 BMW 740, located in an alley near Sonoma Blvd and Tennessee Street. The armed suspect, masked and determined, successfully made away with the vehicle.

Vallejo Police Department's Patrol Division officers found the stolen BMW by Springs Road and Oakwood Avenue. In an attempted traffic stop, the suspect abandoned the moving vehicle, which prompted a foot chase. Vallejo Police Department stated, "While fleeing, officers observed the suspect drop his firearm, pick it back up, and run toward a nearby apartment complex." This led to a coordinated response involving the California Highway Patrol's Air Unit, Solano County Sheriff's Office, and Napa County Sheriff's Office to contain the area.

Authorities cornered the suspect, who had been discovered hiding between a vehicle and a garage. Despite announcements instructing the suspect to surrender peacefully, he showed defiance. Eventually, officers were able to use a non-lethal round to subdue and arrest the suspect without further incident.

The recovered firearm was not registered to the suspect, who was identified as a convicted felon on probation with outstanding warrants from Solano County. "The stolen BMW was returned to its rightful owner, the firearm was secured as evidence, and the suspect was booked into the Solano County Jail," reported the Vallejo Police Department.

The collaborative effort of the CHP's Air Unit, Solano County Sheriff's Office, and Napa County Sheriff's Office were acknowledged by the Vallejo Police Department for their roles in bringing the situation to a safe resolution.
