A failed robbery attempt took place in southeast Houston on Tuesday afternoon outside an ATM at 9451 Cullen Blvd. Up to five armed men, arriving in a white Chevrolet Impala, engaged an armored truck driver in a gun battle, which was captured on surveillance footage. It is unclear whether the robbers managed to steal anything from the truck, according to Click2Houston.
Witnesses heard multiple gunshots during an attempted robbery of a courier. "They tried to rob the courier, there was an exchange of gunfire between the suspects and the courier, at that point suspects started to flee," said Houston Police Department's Lt. Larry Crowson. As the suspects ran, one returned to a car while the others fled on foot. Nearby, a woman had her car stolen when the suspects pointed a gun at her and "she said the men pointed a gun at her and pulled her out of her car using force, shoving her to the ground." Police later found the stolen vehicles, but the suspects are still at large, as stated by KHOU 11 News.
An armed robbery occurred in Sunnyside, Houston, involving a Brinks security guard. The FBI’s Bank Robbery Task Force responded to the situation, which was described by Lt. Crowson as "very dangerous situation for the guard and for any citizens in the area, so we’re very fortunate today that nobody was struck by the gunfire." Brinks has not yet commented, but an audit to assess potential losses is underway. The Houston Police Department is asking the public for any information related to the case, as reported by KHOU 11 News.
