In a modest storefront within Downtown Arlington's bustling Cultural District, Artworks Embroidery & Design Studio emerges as a beacon of entrepreneurial spirit. This small but formidable business, helmed solely by Billy Chestnut, represents the tenacity and expertise developed over a quarter-century of experience in the embroidery and screen-printing industry. Having honed his skills from an educational internship in Georgetown to a multifaceted career, Chestnut's journey embodies the practical fruits of on-the-job learning. "I ended up learning everything about the embroidery and screen-printing industry, and when I finished school I stayed at the same place because they offered me a position as a digitizing artist and graphic designer," Chestnut said, as per the City of Arlington. His path, marked by steady progression, has now culminated in the establishment of his own enterprise.
The studio, though a one-man operation, offers full-service options that rival larger competitors. Customers are afforded personalized attention, inclusive of consultations on fabric selections and pre-order samples for their custom designs. This marks a stark contrast to the more impersonal interactions that often characterize dealings with larger online retailers. In the words of Billy Chestnut, per the City of Arlington, "Something that started as an internship took me all the way to owning my own business." Artworks Embroidery & Design Studio is distinguished by its ability to actualize intricate custom pieces, evidenced by the elaborate Matador jacket occupying pride of place on the showroom wall.
For those seeking to delve deeper into the offerings of Artworks Embroidery & Design Studio, the One Start Development Center, located on the second floor at City Hall, will provide information during the week of December 16 – 20, as part of the Small Business Promotion event.
