In preparation for anticipated cold weather conditions, the City of Atlanta has announced the opening of warming centers to provide shelter to those in need. Atlantans can seek refuge from the wintry chill at two locations across the city.

The warming centers began operations yesterday at 8:00 p.m. and will continue to offer services through the weekend, as detailed in a recent announcement from the City. Specifically, the centers will be open tonight from 8:00 p.m. until tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. They will open for a third time tomorrow at 8:00 p.m., closing on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. Available to the public will be the Central Park Recreation Center located at 400 Merritts Ave. NE, Atlanta 30308 and Old Adamsville Recreation Center at 3404 Delmar Ln NW, Atlanta, GA 30331. For individuals in need of transport to these centers, Fulton County will be providing rides from the Gateway Center at 8:00 pm nightly, with return trips scheduled upon deactivation of the services.

"Activation times are subject to change based on the updated National Weather Service forecast," the City of Atlanta's statement clarified, indicating the necessity of flexibility in response to shifting weather patterns. More information regarding the centers is available on the official City of Atlanta website and updates will also be posted on the City's social media channels.
