The Atlanta Police Department is advising drivers to double-check any parking citations received to ensure they're legitimate, especially for those who are confident their vehicles were legally parked. The notice comes as most street parking enforcement falls under the purview of ATLPlus, a management company separate from city law enforcement, according to APD's official website.
Motorists who are questioning the legitimacy of their parking citation should reach out to ATLPlus directly. However, if there's even a whiff of suspicion that a citation might be a scam, it's important to get on the line with 311 or even 911 to file a proper police report. The city's finest do issue their own parking citations, distinct in appearance from the ATLPlus paperwork. The Atlanta Police Department has provided an example of what an official citation should look like for those discerning motorists on the hunt.
Certain areas are marked as "No Parking" zones, usually with signs. If you receive a ticket from a police officer, payments are handled through the Atlanta Municipal Court. For details on parking regulations, check Chapter 150, Article IV of the Atlanta Code of Ordinances.
