If you're driving through Aurora, chances are you'll be weaving through a labyrinth of roadwork. The city, in its quest to spruce up the infrastructure and cater to the influx of residents, has up to 100 active work zones going at once, according to the City of Aurora.
To mitigate the chaos, Aurora's traffic engineering staff are hustling to keep things smooth for commuters. They're vetting plans to make sure they're safe, seeking alternatives to street closures, and doing their best to avoid overlapping work zones in time, or space. But sometimes, despite their best efforts, weather or unforeseen conditions throw a wrench into the works, leading to "confusion and/or unplanned congestion," the city acknowledged.
