
An unidentified male pedestrian has died following a collision with a vehicle at the intersection of West Koenig Lane and Allandale Road in Austin, affirming the city's troubling rise in traffic-related fatalities. The Austin Police Department (APD) responded to the scene of the crash on November 23, around 5:38 p.m., according to a statement from the City of Austin official website.
The pedestrian was critically injured and taken to a local hospital. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced deceased on December 6, 2024, at 1:53 a.m. The involved driver, reported to have stayed on the scene, cooperated with the APD officers and was not impaired at the time of the accident. This incident marks a sobering milestone for Austin as its 84th fatal crash of the year, surpassing the tally of 80 fatal crashes by the same date in 2023.
The city of Austin and the APD urge any individual with information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
