The Austin Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting that took place late in November, claiming the life of a local man, Xavier Jones Sr. The incident, which occurred on November 25 at approximately 10:58 p.m., happened within the 400 block of East Wonsley Drive, as revealed by the official report from the City of Austin's website.
According to the authorities, APD officers were called to the scene following a report of a shoot/stab hot shot, only to quickly find and confirm Xavier Jones Sr., identified by his date of birth as April 16, 2004, deceased with a gunshot wound inside his residence. The initial findings suggest that multiple assailants may have forcefully entered the apartment by first shooting through the sliding glass door, quickly to then shoot Jones, and subsequently fled with jewelry stolen directly from the victim.
Crime Scene Specialists and Homicide Detectives have taken charge of the scene, working to process evidence and interview witnesses in hopes of shedding light on the circumstances that led to Jones's untimely death. The police report specified that this brutal act of violence is being investigated as the 65th homicide in Austin for the year 2024.
