The Austin Police Department is actively investigating a homicide that took place on Saturday night in the southeast part of the city, with the incident occurring near South Pleasant Valley Road and East Oltorf Street in a residential area.
Officers responded to a call at around 9:25 p.m. after reports of gunshots heard in the 2500 block of Huntwick Drive; upon arrival, they discovered a Hispanic man in his 30s inside a vehicle displaying severe trauma, as reported by KXAN. Despite attempts by first responders to administer lifesaving measures, the victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The Austin-Travis County EMS and the Austin Fire Department were present and engaged in efforts to save the man's life but were unfortunately unable to prevent his death, this incident marks the city's 70th homicide of the year. The Austin Police have yet to apprehend a suspect or provide a description of any person of interest involved in the shooting, as noted by CBS Austin.
