Houston’s dining scene will soon see the arrival of Osha Thai Kitchen, set to open next Tuesday at the West on West shopping mall. The new restaurant, owned by Saranya Danvetnukroh of Nua Thai, will serve authentic Thai dishes, including handmade noodles and curries. Sous chef Afridi Zaman, formerly of Pappas Restaurant and The Nicolette, will oversee the kitchen, as reported by Chron.
Osha Thai’s menu features dishes like Thai chicken wings and crab cream cheese wontons, which were popular at Nua Thai. According to an article by Houston's CultureMap, the restaurant offers a variety of spice levels to accommodate different tastes, along with noodle dishes such as glass noodle salad and pink noodle soup, as well as several versions of pad Thai. The menu also includes crispy spring rolls, chicken larb, and a selection of Thai and Lao-style papaya salads.
A notable draw for food enthusiasts will be Osha Thai Kitchen's pricing strategy, which positions its cuisine as both authentic and accessible. The establishment has positioned only two items above the $20 mark, making this culinary adventure an affordable indulgence. Mirroring the ethos of Houston's diverse food landscape, Osha is poised to anchor itself as a go-to destination within the West on West development, a hub that's not only stocked with a 99 Ranch grocery store but also neighbors Lady M cake bakery and Tsujita Artisan Noodle.
In addition to its food offerings, Osha Thai introduces a creative cocktail program to Houston's vibrant scene, featuring inventive drinks like the Cheeky Monkey, made with Monkey Shoulder Scotch and banana liqueur, and the Royal Butterfly, which blends Empress gin with butterfly pea-infused lychee. The Mekhong Old Fashioned puts a Thai twist on the classic cocktail. The cocktail menu also includes a selection of wine, beer, sake, and teas, providing more reasons for patrons to relax and indulge. "This project is a culmination of dedication to our craft and creativity to elevate Thai cuisine," Danvetnukroh told Houston's CultureMap.
