A somber scene unfolded at a south Montgomery County AutoZone on Saturday morning when an employee was fatally shot. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office has stated an investigation is ongoing, with the incident occurring around 9:50 a.m. at the AutoZone store on Birnham Woods Drive near the Grand Parkway.
According to KHOU, witnesses reported to have heard gunshots from inside the store quickly. Deputies arrived to find a male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save him, the employee, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, 19-year-old William Gabriel Aguilar from Spring, Texas, has been taken into custody. Charged with first-degree murder, Aguilar now sits in jail with a bond set at $750,000. His rapid apprehension followed a description given by witnesses who observed an individual fleeing the area.
"The suspect was quickly located and taken into custody," Precinct 3 officials stated, as reported by ABC13. The relationship, if any, between Aguilar and the victim remains unclear, with officials not stating whether there was prior interaction or familiarity.
