
Avon Lake police have arrested a 78-year-old man after he confessed to stabbing his wife in their home. According to Cleveland19, the incident occurred on Wedgewood Drive just before 9 p.m. yesterday. The man, whose identity has not been released, made a 911 call claiming he stabbed his wife and she needed help.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the husband in the garage and then discovered the wife, a 70-year-old woman with multiple stab wounds, sitting in a recliner in the home office. While taking the husband into custody, as News 5 Cleveland reports, she was quickly rushed to University Hospital St John Medical Center, where her condition was stabilized, suffering wounds to her neck, chest, and hands.
The suspect now faces charges of attempted murder and felonious assault and is being held at the Lorain County Jail. WKYC detailed that police have not disclosed a motive for the attack and have not released any additional information regarding the circumstances that led to this violent altercation.
