An 18-year-old man has been taken into custody following the stabbing death of Angelina Camillia Gonzales, a 17-year-old cheerleader in Azusa, just days before the Christmas holiday. The incident took place last Friday night around 10 p.m. on the 300 block of North Soldano Avenue, close to the Azusa High School West Campus, according to ABC7.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which is handling the investigation, detailed that officers arrived at the scene to find Gonzales with multiple stab wounds. Despite being rushed to a hospital, she did not survive her injuries, as noted by the Azusa Police Department's Facebook post.
The identity of the suspect, an acquaintance of the victim, has not been disclosed by the police, however, Gonzales's family has claimed that she was killed at her ex-boyfriend's house, as per ABC7. Gonzales's death marks a harrowing loss for the family, the community, and all who knew her. In her remembrance and to support the family in this challenging time, a GoFundMe page and additional fundraising events have been established. The family is also organizing a car wash, and bake sale to be held at the VFW in Azusa from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
