
A routine traffic stop by San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies led to the arrest of a Big Bear Lake woman after an ounce of methamphetamine was discovered concealed in her boot. The incident occurred near the intersection of Arroyo Drive and Lake View Drive last Tuesday at approximately 12:50 P.M., CBS News Los Angeles reports.
Karoline Kuikahi, the 49-year-old passenger in the vehicle, was found to be harboring the drugs. Officials from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department stated, "The methamphetamine was determined to be transported for the purpose of sales," as reported by KTLA News. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Kuikahi was charged with felony transportation of a controlled substance, and her bail has been set at $40,000.
According to a media bulletin released by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, the suspect is being held at the Big Bear Jail, and her arraignment is scheduled for Monday. Deputy M. Mascetti of the Big Bear Station was mentioned as a point of contact in the announcement.
The San Bernardino Sheriff's Department's Multiple Enforcement Team (MET) was responsible for the stop that led to the discovery and arrest. No further details regarding the traffic stop or any additional suspects have been made available.
