A devastating fire in Casco Township razed a barn to the ground last night. According to FOX 17, a neighbor's call at around 10:15 p.m. alerted South Haven Area Emergency Services (SHAES) to the blaze on 68th Street near 103rd Avenue. By the time the firefighters arrived, the structure was already fully engulfed in flames. The barn contained hay and agricultural equipment, all of which were destroyed in the conflagration.
Responding to the fire, SHAES coordinated with the Gaines Fire Department for water supply due to the rural location's limited resources. This collaboration was crucial as they tackled the blaze, which drew Allegan County Deputies to manage the resultant traffic diversions. Although the cause of the fire is still being investigated, as noted by WOOD TV, fire officials report that thankfully there were no injuries.
The operation was a joint effort, with SHAES taking the lead and receiving assistance from neighboring departments. They worked through the night to extinguish the fire and ensure that it didn't spread to nearby properties. "SHAES worked with the Ganges Fire Department to shuttle water to the scene and put out the fire," reported WZZM 13.
